Training & Experience

I have been working in the field of mental health for 20 years and have completed various training programmes, gaining a variety of qualifications, which include a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, a four-part EMDR Europe Accredited training programme in the theory and practice of EMDR and a First Class Honours degree in Psychology.

In December 2015, I completed my training on The Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at the University of West England.  This is a rigorous, 5 year applied professional training programme designed to provide doctoral level education leading to a professional qualification as a Counselling Psychologist. The programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

I also believe that it is essential that your therapist has had (a lot) of their own therapy. If I am going to sit in my chair, I need to know what it’s like to sit in your chair. This has been an indispensable part of my ongoing learning and development in being both a therapist and a person.

I currently practice privately as a counselling psychologist and have done a variety of clinical work around Bristol, including at The Priory Hospital and in both NHS and specialised services such as Womankind and Off the Record. I am regularly and closely supervised by a fully qualified and experienced professional.

As well as being an HCPC registered (PYL 38089) & chartered psychologist (BPS 317935),  I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Registered Member 249224 (MBACP), and a member of the EMDR Association UK.

I am an approved provider of psychological therapy through various private health insurance companies – please get in touch if you are looking for therapy covered by health insurance.
